In fabrication and infrastructure projects, structural steelwork isn’t just a component; it’s a foundation for safety, accessibility, and long-term performance. At Shearfab, we are specialists in structural steelwork, sheet metal fabrication and telecom parts, and MCCs and control panels, serving critical infrastructure sectors including Telecommunications, Water Infrastructure and General Manufacturing.
Working closely with our customers, including major players such as leading telecommunication network and water infrastructure suppliers, Shearfab manufactures the steel plinths, complete with aluminium flooring, legs, stairs and platforms and the MCC carcases and busbars, to sit inside the GRP or steel housing – all of these designed with a focus on structural integrity, quality, and ease of on-site assembly. Our customers then provide the automation and software integration and deliver and install the final turnkey solution.
Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DfMA)
A key strength of Shearfab’s approach lies in our use of Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DfMA) principles. DfMA focuses on designing structural elements so they are easier and more efficient to produce and assemble, which has proven benefits in both manufacturing performance and on-site installation. This methodology shifts much of the fabrication effort into a controlled manufacturing environment, reducing assembly complexity on site and shortening overall project timelines.
By producing standardised or modular elements, such as steel legs, platforms, stair sections and plinths, in our facility, we can enhance quality control while reducing waste and risk. Components that are manufactured with simplified assembly in mind can be delivered ready for rapid installation, which benefits both project schedules and cost control.
Certified Quality and Integrated Services
Shearfab’s structural steelwork is manufactured under BS EN 1090 standards. This certification provides customers with confidence that their structures meet stringent safety and performance criteria. Powder coating is also available in-house, adding corrosion resistance and professional finish to extend service life in demanding environments.
